winter wear

Couple new FO's.

I finished the hat a few weeks ago, but kept screwing up on the pom poms. They're pretty messy and lopsided looking, especially how I attached them.

I used the Jester Hat pattern from the Yarn Girls Guide to Kid Knits. My kid's head must be super big though (well, I knew that already), the 3 yr old hat is only 17". DS's head is 20", and he's just turned 2!!!
I used Bernat Softee Chunky because it came in those day glo colours that you can only find in arcrylic. And I also knew he wouldn't tolerate a wool hat on his head. Or anyplace else for that matter.
Used 6mm dpns.

and my reluctant hat model/couch potato with raspberry juice all over his face

and then we've got my scarf. I never thought I'd do a scarf, seemed so pedestrian. However, I was playing with stitches on my cheap, arcrylic yarn, and liked the look of it.
I used Bernat Softee Chunky and Lion Brand Fun Fur, and 6mm needles.
It's not nearly as soft knitted up. Well, the orange is soft, but not the blue/purple/red. It also stretches out a lot more than I thought it would.

I made up the pattern as I went along. And I guess that's why people should use patterns. Did a k2p2, then p2k2 kind of variation on the seed stitch for 4 rows. Then a basket weave for 4 sets, then the k2p2-p2k2 for 4 rows, and 2 rows of garter stitch doubled up with the fun fur when switching colours.
